the end of public education?
Today at SFU a protest took place against the six million dollar cuts to core funding that will result in the loss of 80 staff positions at our university. While I won’t bore you with the details, this funding cuts are going to mean fewer professors and TA’s, larger classes with less individual attention per student, and the elimination of several scholarships and bursaries that will drastically effect those who are struggling to afford already high tuition costs. It’s not exactly the kind of issue students should be apathetic about.
